The overall administration of the University is vested in the University Council. Its membership is drawn from a cross – section of people, both women and men, with a commitment to the promotion of higher education.
The Council is the chief governing body of the University; it has the final authority in establishing the University’s wide policy. It appoints the full time academic and administrative staff. The Council conducts its business through the Senate, Boards and Committees, such as:
- Finance Board
- University Tender Board
- Planning and Development Board
- Staff Appointments and Welfare Board
- Estates and Works Board
- Student Affairs Committee
- University Staff Tribunal
- Students’ Disciplinary Committee
The Council is assisted by the University’s Chief Executive Officers led by the Vice Chancellor; the Senate, which is the chief academic body of the University and the Central Executive Committee of the University.
