THEME: Linking Enery ,Water,Environment, Health and Farming Systems: Models and Best Practices
THE 2 INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE ON ENERGY, WATER, HEALTH AND FARMING SYSTEMS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Organised by: Ndejje University Dates:2nd-3rd October 2019 Venue: Hotel Africana
Sustainable development entails harmonizing environmental, economic and social goals. To achieve intergenerational equity and justice, developmental activities of the present time must be pursued in consideration of the needs of the future. Much as conserving natural resources is crucial for societal development, conservation may not be possible if necessities of life (Food, Energy, Water, Environmental-health: FEWE) are not met. Whereas in reallife situations FEWE are inseparable, institutions/agencies that conduct research and/or deliver services in each of those sectors tend to operate in isolation. Consequently, there are lost opportunities for synergies and joint venture.
The Academia, Government and Private sector agencies are expected to play complementary roles in delivery of essential services across the FEWE sectors. By linking up, these sectors could integrate and jointly optimize technical expertise, financial and human resources for sustainable development. Anchored on principles of entrepreneurship, cost savings and resource recovery, synergies and joint ventures could bridge existing gaps in delivery of services across the four (FEWE) sectors. Demonstration of viable technical and business models alongside social benefits is expected to attract multi-stakeholder engagement and investment in the delivery of services across the sectors. To contribute towards achieving Uganda Vision 2040 and to promote Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Ndejje University is organizing The 2nd International Scientific Conference on Linkages between Food, Energy, Water and Environmental Health.
It will provide a platform for; 1) disseminating findings from multidisciplinary research on FEWE; 2) sharing insights, innovations, developments and best practices on linkages across the FEWE sectors; 3) proposing reforms in policies, regulatory instruments and institutional frameworks for supporting the integration of FEWE sectors.
The conference organizers cordially invite abstracts, full research papers for presentations (oral and poster) and exhibitions. Original papers will be reviewed and published in the conference proceedings. The presentations should be aligned within the thematic tracks and focal areas within the table on page
